New Clutch Looming?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Sorry if this posted in the wrong section, but I wasn't sure the best place for it.

I know this is entirely subjective and I'll never truly know before I take it to a garage, but was just hoping someone could point me in the right direction

I'm having an intermittent issue with my 2006 2.0 TDCI where when cruising at say 30 or 40 for a couple of minutes, the car starts to lurch or surge.

Like I said, this is intermittent and only happens every now and again and doesn't occur when shifting through the gears or when up to motorway speeds.

To give a bit more background: it's done 116,000, not a clue when the timing belt etc was changed as I only had minimal paperwork when I bought the car. It's had a noisy flywheel (rattling when clutch engaged) for as long I've owned it, bushes on the rear ARB are perished and one of the brake calipers was previously binding. I got new brakes and pads fitted all around and this SEEMS to have fixed the issue, although the brakes are sometimes squeaky when leaving the handbrake on overnight.

Hopefully with the plethora of issues I've listed, someone could advise on what my issue may be!
