Gear Stick Has Too Much Sideways Movement???

Hi all.

I've just replaced the clutch on my 65,000 mile, 2005 Ka 1.3 and I have a strange problem!!!

I refitted the gear stick to gearbox linkage and now I can move the whole H pattern over to the left and over to the right which shouldn't happen.

The relative positions within the H stay as they should but I don't get why its happening. Everything underneath is tight and it didn't do it before so what have I done wrong or not done?

Please help as its making using the car horrible!!!

    check that the linkage has not wore or the fulcrum point there the gearshift attatches is in good condition as that may be wore and allowing the movement
