New Owner Advice Please

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm a Streetka newbie; just bought a 2003 Streetka luxury 2 days ago. It has 12 months MOT but a few things are niggling me.

1.The horn has stopped working

2.The electric window buttons seem to be the wrong way round (the right one operates the passenger window!)

3. The passenger door won't open from the outside.

Driving yesterday, the aircon button wouldn't work and would only blow out hot air, today it's working fine.

I'm planning on taking it to a garage to get looked over this week, but can anyone tell me if these things sound linked and whether this is likely to cost more than I paid for the car to fix?

Thanks

Well you didn't say how much you paid for the car, so it's hard to be sure, but i'd say the main costs will come from

1) Diagnosis of the issues

2) Labour costs, time spent on attempting to put the issues right.

I wouldn't be surprised if the bill was in excess of a few hundred pounds (£200-£300) would by my estimate all in, although it depends how much the garage charge per hour in Labour, and of course, how long it takes to diagnose the issue, not to mention part prices if any are needed...

If you bought it from a garage or dealership, take it back. A non-working horn is a MOT failure in itself, if it passed without it working then what else on the MOT has been passed when it shouldn't? I too would be interested in what you paid, I don't mean to sound horrible or owt but this car sounds off.

I was more thinking could you not take it back as OP has been sold a car that is not "As described" ? assuming it wasn't listed with faults.... and yes, as you say, Horn not working is an MOT failure.

They suck fuel like nobodys business and are a veritable cornucopia of electrical faults and bad design!

Sell it or better still drive it off the edge of a cliff.
