gone up slightly since yesterday :( http://www.cats2u.co.uk/33943/Diesel-Particulate-Filter/FORD/FOCUS/1.6

Few on eBay but I'd rather go with an established company.

It's the same one I have, it is £190 inc VAT if you read the small print lol.

Most of the ones on ebay are made by the same company, there seem to be only 2 companies making the Eolys ones. The one linked is by BM catalysts, the other one is made even worse from what I could see in pics.

Mine didn't last 3 months before playing up again, and I'm not a slow and steady driver lol, so it's not my driving style causing it problems. I can't say whether it's these cheap DPFs or whether it's all of them, but I really wish I'd spent the money on the removal remap and gutted it now! If you do go for it, I'll be interested to hear how well it lasts compared with mine. :)

I always work minus VAT due to my job, a habit I can't break out of work! :|

Ha, that's fair enough! Don't drive in your job do you? Claim the DPF as an expense... ;)

Get it removed, you know you want to :)

What they can't see they can't fail you on....

Good point, I'm thinking of making a huge engine cover to cover the whole bay... :D

Lots of places seem to offer dpf gutting services with remaps so it still looks physically present although all that's left inside is the cat and nothing else.

Before the oil change tomorrow decided to fill up with premium fuel & throw in some supposed DPF cleaner - was only £2 was worth a gamble despite knowing full well it's pretty much snake oil. Then after the change a good run down the M1 :D

Yeah, I've a welder mate that would cut and weld mine in a hidden place, he's also my MOT tester atm anyway haha. Just can't afford the remap after spending on another DPF and trying to save the planet lol.

Can't complain at £2! Problem with a good blast down the motorway is you need to be over 3k rpm to get the benefit really... I don't think active regens even kick in under 3k, mine don't seem to but may be coincidence.

The general consensus on here is between 2.5 and 3 which will be easily manageable. Nice leisurely 60mph in 4th will keep between those figures easily, just have to be careful not to blast the throttle to overtake HGVs ;) Thank <deity> for cruise control!

I'm not sure how many of those have logged it though. 2.5k is nowhere near hot enough to burn the soot in mine. 3k in 4th (69 on sat nav, 75 on speedo) is just enough for a passive in this hot weather. You really need to get an active regen kicking in on yours though, gets much hotter than driving it ever could (lots of things happen for this that you can't do manually).

Of course I'm not saying don't try it, I just don't personally think it will have the desired effect. But I think you know it needs replaced either way anyway lol. :)

Well that's the plan; I'd have to be able to get to 3k first without the engine cutting out! :(

Oil changed, filters change (fuel, oil, air). Instantly felt better. Started off OK and didn't cut out. Then after it got warm, bam, fail :(

However something piqued our interest. A pipe looked like it was utterly flat - and a quick look here shows it certainly shouldn't be. It was soft, spongy and full of crap, as well as blocking any airflow whatsoever.

It's the small pipe center going from the main air filter up to the top of the block.

So, hunting for one of these now, then later whilst waiting for delivery I'll be shoving a bit of random hosepipe in there to keep the bugger open!

* Edit : Found some larger bore pipe - washing machine waste pipe :D It's only plastic so don't think it'll last up to the heat, but that along with some duck tape should keep it running for the couple of short jaunts to work until the replacement arrives :D - more importantly this works wonders, it no longer cuts out!

Spoke too soon, cutting out again :( Will just be taking it easy until my code reader arrives.
