Leaky Fiesta Brake Hose

Featured Replies

Hi looking for some help and advice concerning my fiesta brakes.

The other night when driving my front drivers side caliper ceased on causing lots of heat and a nice welded metal smell. So I bought 2 new refurbished calipers and new brake fluid to flush the system through while I was at it. I fitted the new caliper to the drivers side fine, then on the passenger side the brake union snapped when I was removing it. So I bought 2 new brake hoses thought best to replace in pairs. Fitted the passenger side hose that was broken. Then replaced the drivers side hose that had previously been fine, and it now leaks from the union in the top of the arch where it meets the hard line. I've tried tightening it up some more and that slowed down the leak, to being a few drips when left overnight. I've taken the joint apart cleaned it and put it back together, still no luck....

Could it be bad brake hose? It was a Pagid hose from euro car parts? Bad caliper? My next course of action was going to be trying a new brake hose? As it never leaked before I changed it so has to be the hose??

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Have a look at the fitting on the hose, make sure it's got the right shape inside to receive the flared part of the brake pipe, just double check it has been formed correctly. Also check the flared part of the pipe for any damage, you shouldn't overtighten this type of joint as you risk damaging/distorting the flare.

Ok thanks I will check it out later. I'll check the new hose too before I put it on.
