No contest.

I had a blue light training run this morning from Plymouth to Exeter and it was pretty much 125 all the way.

Road conditions were dry, light was good and traffic was light, all risk assessed and clearance given.

I love my job. :)

So it looks like stoney could of been right. I may be a ford owner again soon.

Had a few issues with the vxr.

It's going to the garage tomorrow to see if it's viable to fix. If not I'll be heading back to the garage I brought it from to get my focus back.

Will update tomorrow.

What sort of issues? (Other than the badge :P )

Never nice to have problems with a car that means you have to return it, but might be for the best in some ways...?

Can look for a fast Ford then :D

I had an oil leak that is now fixed. Was just the gasket on the oil feed pipe. I have now got quite a bad coolant leak. I'm thinking it's the head gasket. Also noticed a tiny note in the paperwork saying all wheels buckled.

It's going to my trusted garage in the morning so the first thing I'll get them to check is the wheels.

Brand new replacements are approximately £1600. They are 19inch.

It's all covered under their warranty so I'll see what actual issues there is and report to the garage to let them make a decision.

So the wheels on the vxr have been confirmed buckled. I have emailed the garage who sold it to me requesting a refund and my focus back.

Stoney do not laugh. Lol.

Any tips on how to deal with this if the garage does not play ball??

stay calm & objective , give the garage opportunity to rectify the problem or suggest a reasonable alternative , and give yourself time to consider all options.

but somehow i doubt the seller will just hand over a wad of cash with a cheery smile......

I've emailed him stating the problems and remained calm but just let him know I will take things further if needed. I said I'd like to resolve this amicably and now I'm just waiting on their response.

This isn't good news, watching this space

The garage has emailed back saying they want to take the vxr to their mechanics. So it's going in Monday afternoon so should have a better idea as to what's going on by Wednesday.

I'm estimating the issues to be about £2500-3000.

Watch this space.

Make sure you tell them not to sell your car while they are looking at the issues as you may still have to reject the car if a satisfactory outcome cannot be reached.

That is a very good point. I hadn't thought of that one. Cheers. I know they still have it at the moment.

It turns out the alloy was cracked not buckled.

Is it safe to have them repaired or would it be a new alloy job?

Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk

I'd want to know why they cracked... Is the suspension still OK?

Don't think repairing a cracked alloy is a good idea. How can you reinforce it?

  • Author

Apparently it's cracked on a previous repair. Suspension seems ok. Had a drop link replaced. But the crack is on the drivers rear wheel.

If it has failed from a repair once then I'd want a new wheel.

Snap

They have repaired the alloy but I made them agree to a guarantee that if it cracks again they will replace all 4 alloys.
