I bought my car a couple of weeks ago and I have just found this in the boot when getting my bag out the boot. Any ideas what it is?

    It's a wingnut for securing your tail lights.

    If you look behind the lights you should see the bolts.

    You have to release the side screw nearest to the boot opening, pull the carpet out a bit and shove your hand up in the direction of the rear lights. On one side you should feel the boot with this wing nut on; the other you won't! Simply screw it back on. Don't drop it though; it is a pain to pick up if you drop it down near the lights!
