Noise From Front Of Car

Featured Replies

My 1.4 tdci 2009 fiesta has a rumbling droning noise from the front of the car, seems to be worse when at 30mph plus. I have changed the two front bearings and have checked brakes and discs, but the issue still persists. Any ideas appreciated

Worn tyres?

No tyres are in gd condition, even swapped back for front

Water pump ? or cam belt if it has one ?

Check the cv joint-outer today and no issues. Water pump and cam belt changed about 1/2k miles ago :/

Front bearings were replaced last week, but noise is still there. The brake pedal also has vibration in it at speed as well

If the discs are warped they could be brushing the pads.

Will double check the discs again, I drove this evening and not sure if the noise is coming from the rear which makes me think it may be the rear bearing, any easy way to check apart from trying to wobble the tyre

Jack it up and spin each wheel in turn and check for roughness or play.

Hi, I have just bought a second hand Fiesta and had the same issue, constant rumbling noise, the noise changed with speed and when you apply the brakes it gets even crunchier.... I found the issue to be over inflated tyres. Mine were up to 41 PSI all round, so dropped them down to 31 front and 26 back and the noise has all but disappeared. I get a small noise between 30 and 40 otherwise fine, so now suspect either wheels need balancing or need to replace a tyre due to being run way over pressure. Hope this helps others.
