Is It Possible To Install Parking Sensors On A Zetec?

Featured Replies

Hello ive just brought a 2010 fiesta zetec and I'm just wondering if it's possible to install parking sensors? And if so how hard is it to do so?

Do you mean OEM or after-market sensors?

The OEM rear parking sensors are really easy to install. You need an module, connector cable, rear bumper cable and 4 sensors.

The module doesn't need to be activated. The location of the sensors are marked inside the bumper (at least the front ones).

The only tool you need is a drill that is the right size for the sensors.

If you need the FINIS codes, just let me know.

As you can tell I know the real basics about cars (but I intend to learn) so I'm sorry if I offend anyone by not being that knowledgeable!

So to start what's the difference between OEM and after market sensors?

OEM (Original equipment manufacturer) means factory fitted or original Ford parts. After-market are all the parts you can buy in your nearest halfords shop or ebay.

OEM is always more expensive than after-market parts. But on the other hand, OEM is tested, designed and manufactured by Ford (or companies that are approved by Ford). So you know it's especially designed for your car.

If you have little knowledge about cars, be careful with making changes in your car.

Oh I see so obviously OEM seems to be more suitable ... so assuming this is what I need ... ( http://www.trustfirstparts.co.uk/category/Technology/Parking_Sensors,i.html ) how would I be able to get ones my colour ( frozen white)

I have a set of £13 Ebay specials on my Focus - really easy to install, work better than expected and the generic colour match is close enough that I haven't bothered painting them lol

You got a link for them? If they work and it saves me over £100 might be worth a try!

I have the rear parking-sensors on mine and they are a little difficult to trust at first but I got used to them and trust them completely. My wife however...she doesn't like them at all. :D

After trusting them do you find it makes parking quicker or not?

Certainly more convenient!!

I twatted a short post and cracked my bumper...decided to go for a new bumper and sensors.

Just search ebay for Parking Sensors kit and sort by price. Find the highest rated seller under £20 and you'll probably be fine. They are generic

After trusting them do you find it makes parking quicker or not?

Not much quicker, but definitely more fun.

Haha well thanks for the feedback ... I will defiantly be installing them sooner or later!!
