Mk7 Map Light Trouble

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I'm hoping for a little help regarding my interior map light.

When I bought the car there was no problem, when the door was opened or the car turned on the auto light came on perfectly.

However, I then changed the bulb to a same fitment, different colour bulb.

That's where the problem began:

When it's 'off' - on the left side - it's off.

When it's on 'auto' - in the middle - it's constantly on.

When it's 'on' - on the right side - it's off.

I now have no light when it's needed and when I leave the light on (middle/constant) and lock the car it stays on permanently.

I honestly have no idea what to do so any help or advice would be gladly appreciated!

Thanks,

David

Is it an LED light? That shouldn't be a problem, but I would try putting the original bulb back in just to make sure everything is working as it should, and go from there. I don't know if it could just be that you put the bulb in the wrong way, but surely that would stop it from lighting at all (whereas with a halogen bulb the orientation doesn't matter).

When I changed my bulbs to LEDs i found that they weren't going fully in the socket and that some only worked when the contacts were a certain way round.
