New Fiesta - 5 Year Warranty

Featured Replies

Evening all!

Just picked up my brand new fiesta zetec today. Just a quick question which concerns me, the dealer who is the main ford dealer here said that it has 5year ford warranty but i can't find where it shows this. I know in the little service booklet it says about the standard 2 years and theres also something saying about the extended 5 year but nothing which formally says which mine has.

Also i know probably a stupid question but when i look for service prices of the ford.ie website i can only seem to find prices for 5+ year old fords. Id imagine a newer car would be cheaper?

Thanks in advance!

Dom

Mine came with 3 as standard and you can extend up to 4 or 5

3 years is standard - extended normally is charged extra

Thanks for the info.

I'd expect they are charging extra as he said a few times clearly it comes with 5 years warranty. Not sure though as i can't find anything stating i have this. Will mail him tomorrow as also in the service booklet it has the warranty page which says must be stamped by dealer (and is not).

Also bear in mind that the base warranty is just 1 year & covers everything, in years 2 & 3, & in the case of extended warranties, years 4 & 5 not everything is covered & the vehicle must be serviced in accordance with Fords schedules using genuine Ford parts to qualify for warranty repairs.

You can use non Ford garages but they must use Ford parts.

I personally only use Ford dealers as I foresee that it's possible that a warranty claim could be rejected by Ford claiming any service or work not done by them could be substandard & not in accordance with their schedules.

Fords service costs are generally more expensive for cars under 4 years old.

The downside is that Fraud stealers services are generally expensive compared to Indies :)

Dont thats strictly correct any more regarding 2nd, 3rd year. Read somewhere its now a proper 3 yr warranty from sept 14 onwards.

Will see if I can find out where I saw that.

I think you are right.

Frauds website states : 1 year with unlimited mileage, followed by a further 2 years with a total mileage restriction of 60,000 miles, which includes the mileage covered in the first year.

The warranty restrictions apply to years 4 & 5 as this period is called '' Ford Protect ''

Warranty restrictions apply too in years 2 & 3 unless the total mileage does not exceed 60,000 within the first 3 years

I stand ( partially ) corrected :)

Im going to call them later ( not dealership ) though. He didn't even offer the 5 year extended warranty as he kept saying it automatically comes with it when i know in Ireland where i bought it that its 2 years as standard. Maybe they just included it without saying anything and added to cost.

Found it, 1/9/14 base warranty 3 years on your focus and mondeo, havent read the exclusions yet though. Lol

Thats uk only, ireland is 2 yrs

Applicable to my Focus :) - but not applicable to my Mondeo as that's an April 14 plate :(
