Airbag Flashing Light

Featured Replies

The airbag light on my Ford Fiesta Zetec (hatchback 1.2 – circa 1999) is constantly flashing, 4 times then a pause and then 4 times. Started after it passed its MOT in August! (The garage was unable to fix the problem for me!)

But, after looking on the internet, we managed to fix the problem by disconnecting and reconnecting the yellow connectors under the plastic cover on the outer side of the driver's side seat, and turning the 10 Amp fuse (position 11) around.

This lasted for about 2 months, and then I moved the driver’s seat back last week, and the problem has returned. This time have disconnected the battery for 30 mins and disconnected the yellow connectors (and reconnected) on both the driver and passenger sides, but the light still continues. Anybody got any ideas as to what else I can do?

Thanks

when you disconnected the plugs did you check for and damaged wiring, also try an electrical switch cleaner on the plugs.

Couldn't see any damage to the wiring. Sprayed very small amount of WD40 on the connectors. The connectors looked pretty clean and uncorroded. Do you think an electrical switch cleaner would make a difference?

Ordinary WD40 is not suitable for cleaning electrical connections - you need electrical contact cleaner - WD40 make that too, I think it comes in a black & red aerosol tin

Thanks, will get some and see if that works.

Electrical cleaner seems to have done the trick. Light no longer flashing. Haven't dared move the driver's seat!

Thanks for your help.
