Steering Control Problems

Featured Replies

Hi guys I've had my car a few weeks and yesterday I noticed my steering wheel controls wouldn't let me skip through radio stations sometimes but volume buttons are ok and when this happens I press the volume button then it will let me use the skip buttons again, is this common? Just a glitch? Or is it a dealer jobby. Thanks in advanced it a 63 reg ecoboost

Interesting, I have probs with the volume buttons (mainly -) but the skips always work fine. I kinda convinced myself it was the actual buttons, if I played around with them it seemed to start working. Not sure anymore, sometimes I start-up and they work, sometimes not, but some minutes down the road they might start (stop) working again (without playing with the buttons). It's in for the 1st service next week, they've made a note of it but it's guaranteed to work that day, sods law.

Alright ray when u put it in next week will u let me know what they say or do so I know to book mine in or not. Thanks mate

An extremely common issue, especially on Fiestas for some reason, try a small squirt of electrical contact cleaner ( NOT normal WD40 ) under the button face

OK will give this a go

not had any issues with mine mikey- although i did have a few issues like this on my old car

Will do.

I wouldn't be surprised if my volume down key fails at some point, it makes a clicking sound each time I release it which it shouldn't be doing. I'll try and remember that trick with the electrical contact cleaner, but also this is something that I think would be covered by the warranty.

Car collected for 1st service today, volume buttons worked perfectly, what a surprise.

Before I started the engine, got the guy to open bonnet and listen for my squeak, must be the first day in months it didn't squeak.

£152 for the service.
