2005 Zetec 1.4 Losing Coolant

Featured Replies

Hi

My 2005 1.4 zetec has lost almost all its coolant, it's got 48,000 on the clock and has been running fine, no overheating, no engine lights coming on, no blue smoke from the exhaust, can anyone direct me where to start looking and what it could be?

Thanks

Plus there's no gunk around the oil filler cap

Possible leak in the radiator or coolant reservoir or leaking radiator hose ?

I've just been looking under the bonnet and noticed a slight hissing sound coming from the expansion tank cap, the cars been stationary for about an hour but the expansion tank was still slightly warm, is this normal? Would a faulty cap cause me to lose nearly all my coolant?

Hissing could be a loose or faulty cap or loose connection to the coolant reservoir & as the coolant is under pressure will result in leakage
