iBlob
Hi all, I've heard the debate about the differences between the 100ps and 125ps in relation to the turbo and the stamps that are on them, and I had a question... I purchased my Race Red Zetec S 125ps Fiesta just over a year ago now, and up until now I never had any reason to check the turbo, but after reading some threads and posts I decided to have a look myself...just curiosity I guess Now my understanding is this, the 100ps models have a turbo stamp of 100, and the 125ps models have a turbo stamp of 120...so why is it my 125ps model has a turbo stamp of 100? I mean is this right? Or are the turbos different slightly between the two models. I mean it would make sense to have the stamps reflect which model they were intended for, but I'm not a Ford Engineer. Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you :)
alexp999
I have a feeling in a previous discussion that the number does not relate to the power output. I think both 100 and 125 use the same turbo, just a different map...

Ah right, I did think it would be daft to produce two different turbos for the same car, and it would make sense to have the map as the difference! Cheers for that pal :)
iantt
the early ecoboosts had the markings on and were in fact diferent part numbers depending on 100 or 125 power outputs, then later ones had the same turbo for 100, 125, then the 125 partnumber was used for the 140. why i dont know. lol and think even the very latest ecoboosts use 1 turbo for all variants now. sure i saw that on parts system.

I was told by a dealer about 6 months ago (Evans Halshaw so take this with a pinch of salt). "All the Ecoboosts use the same engines and turbo. They just Re-map them depending on the power output you want"
iBlob
Thank you for all the replies, I guess that clears this up and my turbo is fine! :D
tero521
I heard that the only difference in maps between 100/125, is that 125 model has the overboost, and that is the only time that 125 model gives 125hp? am i wrong?
MONDEO TXS 2.2
As far as I'm aware the 1.0 engine is the same base engine throughout the bhp range & as previously stated the higher outputs are achieved through a different map All ecoboost engines* have the time limited overboost facility including the 1.6 Fiesta ST & Focus 2.0 ST Edit * I'm unsure whether the base 99 bhp has the overboost facility
MONDEO TXS 2.2
Transient overboost on the 125 version delivers an extra 30nm for 30 seconds maximum duration

iantt
The 140 engine is different, and uses a different headgasket.
PhDream
The 140 engine is different, and uses a different headgasket. I like the sound of this, but is there any proof?
