Focus Mk2 2.0Tdci Starting Problem

Featured Replies

When I go to start the car the engine just spins over and doesn't start. If I take the key out of ignition and then put it back in and try again it usually starts and runs ok. This happens with the spare key as well.

It happens if the engine is cold or hot.

Any idea guys what could be the problem. I'm thinking is it the antenna pick up round the ignition barrel that's not picking up the key transponder.

Starter motor sticking ? Can you test the battery and alternator?

Are you waiting for the glow plug indicator light to go out .....has it started happening since the temp has dropped.... or a fuel pump issue .....I would change fuel filter fir starters.cheap option first

Sorry foir the slow response I've been working alot so not had time on here.

I changed the fuel filter and the problem seems to have disappeared for now. The old filter looked ok and no water at bottom of housing.

Cheers for your input.
