Anyone got any write ups on this??

I'm not sure if the C-Max will be any different to the Focus Mk1, but this might give some pointers

Hello again I've tried to do the coil Spring today and unfortunately it defeated me the bolts are seized solid so I took it to the garage I take my cars for mot for them to do it for me and left it with them for a few hours they phoned me and said he couldn't do it the bloke said the bolts are seized and he hasn't got any acetylene bottles to heat it up ( I though all garages would have bottles to heat up seized bolts) now I'm stuck and I don't know what to do anyone in the west mids area fancy helping me out???

It's the typical problem of the mk1 and mk2, the bolts seize into the sleeve of the bushings. Time to get the grinder out more like and hack some pieces off! I don't think the end result will be pretty.

Well I was trying to just replace the near side first as this was the mot failure

I soaked my bolts each day with WD40 for a few days and then my mate removed them no problem. Worth a try.

Hello all just a quick update on this I took it to 2 different garages who told me they couldn't do it because of the bolts being seized so I had another go at doing it myself

First thing I did was get the car up high and secure it on a axel stand

Then disconnect the bottom mount on the shocker

And disconnect the anti roll bar thing on the effected rear arm

This gave enough movement to pry the arm down and get the old broken Spring out

That was the easy part!!!!!

As the new Spring is bigger due to not being broken I compressed it as much as my clamps would go the the I got some big strong jubilee clips and clamped it in several places then removed the spring clamps and this held it compressed I then got someone to stand in the wheel so it pushed the arm down I fitted the sleeve and cup to the spring ends and managed to get it in I the reattached the roll bar and shocker then cut off all the jubilee clips

All sorted thank god I took it back to the mot station and got a ticket on it with no advisorys. :-)

I had the same problem, passenger side was seized solid and I couldn't remove it. Took it to kwik fit who heated it up, nope that didn't work, snapped a bar. Took it to another garage the only way he could take it off was the cut the arm. The bolt had completely siezed itself against the bush.
