Hi ...i own a 2005 1.6 petrol focus it has 65k miles have owned it for 6 years been a great wee car ...have had an intermittent starting prob with it last 9-12 months most of the time car will start no problem on the odd occasion the car will nearly start then die it will may be take 3-4 goes to start once it starts car goes well with no problems i have changed the crank and cam sensors and car is serviced reguarly...anybody have any help or car with same probs ....cheers

Ide look at the battery condition then the spark plugs to start with and check fir any codes

Hi battery and plugs and leads have all been changed in last year....

In that case it needs diagnostics could be throttle position sensor crank sensor temp sensor maf sensor even a gearbox sensor

Was advised to try and use my spare key to see if fault occured ...i have been using spare key for 10 days now and car has started first time every time anyone had similar fault..

Try changing the battery in the key. It's possible the key also needs relinking to the immobilisor

Should be in the handbook. Can't remember if you need two working keys prior
