Ford 2 Year Service

Featured Replies

Hello

I've just booked a two year service with an Arnold Clark Ford approved garage.

They said that they would do everything they do on a normal service, and extra work including changing the spark plugs, the pollen filter and the oil. The price being £266.81 for this service.

My car has just turned two years old and has only done 7679 miles. Does this price seem reasonable for this low mileage?

Also at this car's age do the spark plugs and pollen filter need to be changed so early?

Any advice on this would be much appreciated.

Also, would anyone recommend using a website such as servicing stop to book a service?

Oil and oil filter isn't extra work, that is done every service.

Brake fluid should normally be done every 2 years too.

The other bits seem to vary depending on model/engine. Usually every 2 or 3 years.

That price is simply daylight robbery & as stated by Alex above, oil & oil filter changes are standard on any service, which in your case is determined by the car's age rather than the mileage you've covered

I'd get some quotes from a respected independent garage & as long as they use Ford parts your warranty will remain intact

Spark plugs are due every 2 years on ka, as for pollen filter, yes if its got air con.

Arnold Clark.............Oh my god they are the biggest ripoffs in the car industry - didnt you google it first?

Just give old AC a google they are utter con men and no mistake.

The list of awful reviews of these con men is endless!!!!!

Every garage is a ripoff my friend i only know one in 30 years of car mechanics that does a real professional job but he is expensive.

My best pal works for a well known garage and the things they gets up to is beyond belief - even he admits that most garages are a ripoff!

They install second hand parts off ebay and junk yards and charge the customers 5 times the price and tell them new parts are fitted whilst 90% of the time they never even change anything in a service and they all laugh at customers behind their backs.

Little tip - get a bottle of tippex and mark all of the things they are supposed to change - mark bolts and body with a white tippex line, oil filters and air filters - basically everything they are supposed to change in an MOT and take photos with a smarthphone as backup then you can stick it to em when you go to pick the car up - never just take it away - insist on examining the work first.

If the part are removed you will see the tippex lines dont line up its a common test to see if a garage has actually done what they say they will and was featured on a few car shows.

They are not affectionately known as Arnold SHARK without good reason . . . . . :)

You want the best advice then find out where your local council get their cars serviced.

Those garages dont have any incentive to rip you off!

Check this!

You will find many of the mot places do servicing as well!

Best advice i can give unless you have a mate or know a place thats toppo quality for sure and wont rip you off - good luck on that one!

I would cancel that service and shop around

Plus i would stick with ford if you like your warranty,

Around 130 would be more acceptable

Be sure to get the pollen filter changed as well

Jamie
