Diagnostic Reader?

Featured Replies

Hi, my wife got this warning light on her Ka last night

The low fuel warning sounded then this appeared, does anyone local to Balloch have a diagnostic code reader that could give us a step for a hint as to what is wrong?

Thanks in advance :)

what year KA is she? although I cant help with the code reader offer, depending on the year (anything after 2004) you can get a modified elm cable, and use FORScan.

Take a look at my guides (in my signature) then look at "got an error on your car?" for more information.

It's a 2014, thanks for the reply!

In which case, FORSCAN and a modified ELM cable should help you diagnose the exact error.

Total cost is about £15-£20 maximum and you will have a spot on diagnostic tool for any modern ford!

The advantage of elm is that it diagnoses all errors including door modules, abs, srs etc

And you can use it with elm config or focccus

According to a few people you dont need an obd device you can do it with the car itself and the dashboard.

Check this - never tried it myself as I have an professional OBD scanner laptop for various vehicles but might be worth a shot and save you a wait and a few quid!

will it work on ka?

As basically its a fiat with fiat electrical systems, even ford ids struggles to work on ka

Take it to your local ford dealer as its still under warranty.

Agree with the warranty but the dash trick is good but unreliable as the codes mostly need translating

Not sure you can do the dash trick on later ka.

Thanks for the help guys, warning light switched itself off! So hopefully it stays off

Good job. If the error doesn't occur for a number of startups after the error registers it does clear itself down which is likely what's happened here.

I definitely recommend getting yourself a cable though
