Whats It Worth?

Featured Replies

It's not for sale yet so I hope WIW threads are allowed on here!

Anyway, pretty straightforward really, just looking for a ball park price atm, likely to sell end of February.

2008 Focus 1.6 TDCi 110 Titanium 5door

X pack electric, heated, leathers

Powerfold mirrors

Cruise control

Privacy glass

HID Xenons

Panther black

60k miles

£30 tax

Standard except black badge overlays and stage 1 remap

4 new tyres in the last year, new windscreen, years MOT.

Service stamps until I bought it (46k), been serviced by myself ever since, oil at 6k or less.

Good all round condition, the odd minor dink but nothing noticeable!

So what do we reckon it's worth now?

Cheers

Tom

The likes of we buy any car or autotrader may give you an idea of the bare minimum . . autotrader is a good place to compare similar car sales & see what they are asking for . . . as with all sales, at the end of the day, the car is only worth as much as someone is prepared to pay for it

  • Author

Yep, I've done the autotrader free price guide thing. Seems a lot of variation in the actual ad prices on both AT and ebay though so just interested how forum members would price it. :)

well the 2nd hand car market is a buyers game at present with the sheer volume of good motors around for sale.

another way to look at it is what price would you be comfortable with accepting ?

without doing any research whatsoever , i'd stick my neck out with £4000 tops.

whether youre pleased or insulted with my off the cuff valuation depends on your own expectations.........;-)

I would say around £3K myself maybe a little more.

definitely go private, didn't you "fix" the DPF issues, that's the kin of conversation that might make all the difference to a buyer...

... and none what-so-ever to a company

  • Author

DPF? Not sure what that is... I don't know anything about cars, just get in and drive... ;)

I think 'that' may cause more hassle with both private or trade buyers nowadays unfortunately, but we will have to see.

I'm a bit disappointed by how much it's (potentially) depreciated in just over a year though, even more so considering what I've spent on it lol. I don't usually keep cars long and don't get stung by depreciation.

I was offered £3k on a 2007 1.6TDCi Ghia for px at Ford, £2.5k on we buy any car, and that was about a year or 18 months ago. Higher mileage than yours though. I would have got more for a private sale but decided to keep it running as its worth a lot more to me than that, especially as I have sorted out the DPF, EGR and timing belt so should be in for some cheaper motoring for a while (fingers crossed).

Wouldn't worry about traders, they wont give too hoots, finance can only be applied to a car for a max of 10 years, being a 2008 car someone could only ever get finance for 2 years which rules out any dealer giving a damn about it, trade it in and I guarantee it will end up in an auction

Any other trader who would stick it on a forecourt probably wont give a damn either

Its a Euro IV engine so wont be apart of those new tests someone was going on about a while back so every day jo wont give a damn, in fact they will likely be happy someone has fixed the ticking bomb for them, to me that would be a major selling point! :)

alternatively you could break it for parts and give a generous FOC discount if we swapped parts ;)

cough ..... Xenons for OEM reflectors + cash ..... cough

  • Author

Lol, I only break cars older than 10 years, modern stuff should be worth more whole! The full leathers must be worth a grand though surely ;) ...several people have asked if I want to sell them, didn't realise they were so rare when I bought the car. But seriously, I won't be breaking it lol.

I was tempted to PX it to Ford or the Ford indy where I bought it given what the replacement will be, but no idea what they'd offer for it or if they'd be bothered by the above.

Otherwise it'll be private sale. :)

private sale is your best bet.

I'm sure youd rather those xenons go to a good home Tom ;)

Private is definitely where id go with it, its a nice well looked after car, traders couldn't care less about such things which reflects the price you will get from them

  • Author

Well this was bought from a Ford Indy where the traders Nan had owned it from nearly new (hence the low mileage and blocked DPF lol) so he might be interested in getting it back! There's also a nice Fiesta there currently but that will have sold by then anyway. May be worth an ask there anyway.

Given where Ian works, I should probably take his advice haha. :D

If I had space I'd keep the cruise wheel, Xenons and leathers, find cheap standards to chuck back in lol...

I do have a 3 spoke wheel, airbag and OEM headlights and/or aftermarket projectors that need a new home, if only I could find a pair of good prices xenons...

lol, cant blame me for trying! :D

Lol, I had a pair of really rare aftermarket lights on the 306...only know of 2 sets in the UK. Said I'd never sell them...eventually sold them to a mate on another forum lol. Persistence is the key. ;) Oh and cash, that helps haha...

a mate just bought one similar specced to yours but his is a 1.8 tdci and he paid £4k. mileage was just over 100 too with a few dings in the doors.

As it happens, I've being looking at compete sets of Titanium and Titanium X full leathers and interiors for Focus Mk2.5's, for the last couple of days. Not wanting pee on parade Tom, but I haven't seen any priced any more than £600. And those were immaculate, from a 61 plate

Well, joking aside, if your open to a bit more "persistence" drop me a PM ;).

  • Author

£600 for an interior still sounds a hell of a lot lol... I've never sold an interior for more than £100 yet...

I should add, mine are also immaculate, they still look brand new, even the drivers seat hasn't worn yet! Though I do only have a small, light backside so that probably doesn't cause much wear haha. :D

As I say Darren, it won't be sold until at least the end of Feb (after my birthday lol) but I'll think of you if I do decide to sell them separately. :)

Hi

I know this isnt the answer You are looking for

It is worth what somebody is prepared to pay for it.

And if its worth keeping dont sell it....

It is worth what somebody is prepared to pay for it.

As someone that's bought over 30 cars in 5 years, I'm well aware of that... :D

Time moves on and circumstances change though, so it's almost a certainty that it'll get sold, regardless of value unfortunately.
