I'm looking to upgrade my stereo in my mk2 focus - its the basic 6000cd but not with aux element.

id like to have the aux feature so i can put in the cable.

Im not really wanting to keep with the rectangle stereo and would prefer to upgrade to the mk2.5 oval shape - does this shape still have aux control once the wire is placed in?

Also i know i would need a new facia plate for it but have noticed that this stereo has what looks like screw holdings at the side - x4 will i need anything else other than the facia plate for it to fix in?

on a side note is there a sony version of the oval stereo and are you able to put the aux connector into those stereos as well?

Yes you can do that, ive done it in mine, however since yours is an 06 like mine you probably wont have the holes for the screws to fit the oval mounting brackets. so you will have to drill some holes for it. i drilled the holes and used some strong double sided tape to hold the mounting brackets onto the dashbaord.

then you will just need to purchase the sony stereo and an aux cable for the stereo, the such as the ones below:

rather than installing the sony stereo, i chose to install a chinese android headunit using the steps in the guide, here is my thread where i asked the forum experts about the mounting brackets:
