Pops and bangs on lift off + engine note - what's needed?

Featured Replies

Hi

After being told my insurance will be cheaper with mods I've decided to keep it tatsteful whilst hopefully cheap!

May look into a remap but what can I do to get some touring car style pops and how many more bhp could I expect. I'll also get a filter.

Thanks

Who told you that insurance would be cheaper with mods.

I think there pulling your leg

Adrian Flux done my quotes today, £90 cheaper with a remap and exhaust compared to standard with no mods.

The modded quotes also beat all of my quotes on the comparison sites.

Is the car turboed as standard? The pops and bangs are usually when the boost is let out via the BOV, the engine goes momentarily rich (as the metered air has been released from the system) and the hot exhaust usually then ignites it further down the pipe.

Keeping the car stock will be cheaper, mods will only add on costs, some insurance companies such as AF do give good quotes for modded cars, for me I have always found Admiral to be cheapest if looking for a few minor mods such as air filter and suspension, anything more it gets very expensive - its why I don't really bother with modding anymore although I would love to be able to.

well its probably  due to flux being a specialist and not a normal insurance company.will all ways be able to do better

Any ways good luck with   Adrian Flux  lol there's better out  there than them.

And as  for touring car style pops buy a car that dose it as standard its easyer :p

Wants to make it tasteful, wants to add pops and bangs to his car? :P  . . . probably some sort of decat full system and an omex rev limiter?

He's right about Adrian Flux though, they can be cheaper to insure modded cars.~

Haha I watched that video a lot, probably not up my street.

Not going for the extreme pops but maybe just a little noise on downshift... Just tasteful really.

Maybe just an inexpensive cat back?

The engine is just bog standard. Thanks for the replies.

Ahh a nice burble to the exhaust? just get a quality catback, cobra or something?

Hi,

If anyone ever needs any help with insurance for a modified car then please feel free to drop me a line. I'd be only too pleased to try and help.

Regards,

Dan.
