Engine died

Hi. I wonder if anyone has any ideas as to what is going on?

My 1.4 2005 Fiesta started for 2 seconds, then stopped,it just spins now and and will not start, sounds like low compression!

I have checked the cambelt, all in one piece, clean and rotating normally(My first thoughts)

Has this happened to anyone else, and do they know why?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give please?

Dave.

Is this the 1.4 petrol or 1.4 tdci diesel? It could be something simple like a coil pack that has gone and not igniting the fuel. Are there any engine codes that have popped up - also have you checked it's not the immobiliser that has kicked in? Perhaps try the spare key and see if that makes a difference.

It is the petrol 1.4 I should have mentioned that earlier.

Good idea..I have tried the spare key,but to no avail, stll spins freely, oil light goes out,but noticed the engine management light stays on!

It will be going on an analysis machine tomorrow evening,so fingers crossed.

Thanks for your reply!
