Custom exhaust build

Featured Replies

Was looking into the possibility of getting a new custom build exhaust as my current exhaust has damage and is rusting, the mechanic adviced driving until it blows but I've long wanted a duel exit so may as well get one before it comes to that stage. I've seen millitek systems for £330. Was wondering how much a custom might cost roughly? I know this would obviously depend on the exact build just looking for a ballpark figure. I'm not too fussed about power increase or sound for that matter but wouldn't mind a bit more of both at the same time.

Any advice on the matter is welcome.

You will get a custom system for less than a named brand like miltek but as you said the exact price will depend massively on what you want. To help keep costs down you could look into changing your backbox. You could have a sports version fitted which would give a better sound or even have it replaced with a straight pipe with dual exit tips on. Your local exhaust place will be able to do any of this.

Yea I'm fancying a duel exit. I've heard good things about powerflow so I think I'll get in touch. I don't know too much about exhausts so consulting them seems like my best bet.

So I've been quoted £350 to build the duel exit and £450 if I want a new cat back with duel exit. Does that sound a good price? He said I'd need to remove the cat and rear silencer to get any sound improvement. Assuming he means catalyic converter but isn't that illegal to remove?

I've been qouted £550 for full turbo back including Sports cat & Twin exit on the rear for my 1.0 ecoboost from a local company. Some people are sayings it's cheap, others saying that's expensive. at the end of the day I dont mind as I'm happy to be supporting a local independant business :)

Not illegal to remove at all :)

Now, driving it with it removed is another topic

You'll notice a sound difference without touching the cat if you change everything backwards of it. Look at sports cat's if you don't want to remove it completely

He said he's gonna remove the inside of the cat, my understanding is that you need it to pass an mot which seems to be the case as he said he'd remove the inside and leave the casing for mot purposes (presumably so they think it hasn't been touched and it passes). He told me the only way to get any sound from mine would be to remove cat (1.6tdci mine is). I think £550 for everything sounds a good price compared to the £380 I've been quoted for just the duel exit build and cat removal.
