A/C 'squeaking' sound at idle on 2013 Fiesta

Featured Replies

Hi all, first post from the happy new owner of a secondhand 2013 1.4 Fiesta!
As the title says, there seems to be a squeaking sound that is made whenever the A/C is on when at idle, and is also audible when driving at low speeds (the sound speeds up with RPMs). The engine idles fine with the A/C both on and off so I don't think there's anything wrong there, although sometimes the RPMs dip down a bit when engaging the compressor for the first time with a cold engine.

Here's a YouTube video I uploaded of the sound (turn up the volume): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjaDWfXOyQ8

Any idea what could be causing this? I couldn't identify if it was from the serpentine belt, compressor, or another part but would be grateful if someone has any idea. I'm nowhere near being an expert so forgive me for the crude description.

Thanks in advance!

Hi I'm not expert either but it sounds like a compressor problem to me, is the AC cold? A trip to either Ford or an AC specialist is in order!

Hope you sort it out soon!

Thanks EcoBoostWarrior!

The A/C works fine, although it certainly could be a compressor problem.
I'll take it to Ford and see what they say, the car is still under warranty (no service plan though).

Regards,
Joseph
