Trying to put some new lights into my licence plate

 

just can't seem to get the holders out

they are bit of a fiddle I found. have you actually undone the clip can't tell on photo. if so, see if you can line it up roughly same gap and see if it slides out. shouldn't 'stick' not that I'm aware off anyway.

I've had this before, one will pop right out but the other gets stuck, it's the metal clip. You have to use some force to get it out of the way. I usually use an Alan key, but be careful not to scratch the paintwork!

Just use a tiny flat head. Easier :) 

I just noticed the clip - couldn't see it in the original but did in your quote. Going blind. 

A bit of a pain to remove those, 2 or 3mm allen key i used and a bit of thin cloth to protect the paintwork, very easy to damage.

Looks a lot better with some leds in them though than the standard bulbs.

maybe the screwdriver is not long enough to get the purchase required on the clip at a guess?? try a long 3mm allen key if you can get one, push the clip away the middle of your car firmly and the unit should free itself out on the diagonal if that makes sense. watch your paintwork!!
