Side light and dash lights not working

Featured Replies

Hi all I have a 2006 ka and the side light and the dash lights are not working I have checked all the fuses and have changed the switch any help would be great

Thanks paul

Its the light stalk - give it a good cleanout with electrical motherboard cleaner before replacing it as it usually sorts it!

I have replaced the light stalk

have you got 12v at fuse 6 and 7 with light switch on?

and you have no sidelights front or rear and rear number plate lights?

Yes that is correct

its a simple enough circuit, have you got multimeter or test light to check voltages at fuses?

check fuse 15, that is permanant feed , that goes to stalk, switch stalk on that then feeds fuse 6,7 which then in turn does left, right sidelights etc.

Is it a new light stalk or second hand!

Easy enough to test it with a multimeter set on continuity if it was second hand.

Always a good idea to test second hand gear - lots of dodgy ebay sellers out there!

Whichever way you look at it its a mutlitmeter testing job and not hard.

If i bridge pin 6 orange/black wire) to pin 7 (orange/yellow wire) the side lights will work but not with the new switch

bridging 6 and 7 and works lights , then thats the whole circuit checked out ok then, faulty new switch.

It's all sorted no it wasn't the switch all the wires in the plug where in the wrong places
