Street ka hood lid won't close properly

Featured Replies

Hi hoping someone can shed some light.I have an 05 streetka and one side of the hood lid won't fully close. Its secure but having to lock car manual as alarm goes off also can only open the boot from inside the car.The lock mechanism s both work just not when you close the lid and you can here the motor so that's fine too please help??

I found on mine that the bolts work loose at the front top edge of the roof where it meets the front windscreen.

Also the rear ones (where the little hood-strings attach) can get bent or loose a retaining bolt - either way it will be one or the other - alarm going off is usually down to the switch in the boot detecting the hood cover is not closed properly but usually fails because water gets into it and it can be a real pain to fault find as it can measure ok with a multimeter yet intermittently fail - its also very poor quality - best bet is to replace it but check your roof connectors - if one side isnt fitting then one of the retainers/connectors will either be bent or have lost its bolts.

Hi thanks for the reply it's not the actual roof it's the roof lid catches one of them passenger side is not clicking locked but when I opened it the mechanisms both work thanks for your help

Give them both a squirt of WD40.

Thanks I have it booked in now with an auto electrition then this morning loss of power exhaust chugging think it's the coil pack same thing happens a few weeks ago on the motorway then it's been fine since.Engine light is now on it's been running so well it's only got 52k on it

It may be the fuel pump - they are real pieces of crap in the Streetka and fail especially if you are the sort of person who drives the car with not a lot of petrol in the tank as the fuel pump needs the fuel to keep cool.

Good luck , hope it doesnt cost too much!
