Make sure you check that there is still oil left in the engine, you don't want a seized engine on top of your woes.

Hopefully its sorted. Keep us updated

quick update, all seems to be good, engine oil is stable and doesn't seem to be getting any less, water seems to be ok, ive had to rewire some of the sensors as the water temp one wasn't working and fan wasn't working so hopefully that will be that sorted. the battery is with a local garage to be charged properly as its been stood for so long and couldn't get it charged. so as it stands I hope this problem is sorted but shall know more tomorrow, I also have loads of engine spares from the previous engine that was stripped down is there anywhere on here I could maybe sell them? also I would really like to thank everyone for their input during my moment of despair it really has been truly helpful and I hope one day I can repay the knowledge .

Was all the oil/water removed form the intercooler and exhaust before the new engine went in?

I reckon Tom had the answer: water in the intercooler. That could hold enough water to make a lot of steam.

When the 2nd engine went, water could have got into the intercooler somehow, possibly via the crankcase breather pipes.

It would take quite a lot of warm air from the turbo compressor to move that water up into the engine, making the steam on the video. And once it had all dried out, no more smoke/steam!

If that is what it was, then the problem should be fixed & stay fixed now. And that will be a good result.

so all has been well over the last few days and have managed to get the battery charged and have covered approx 100 miles, in this time the temp was stable and no warning lights on the dash, the car was pulling well through every gear and not a bit of smoke in sight. until today when the turbo has stopped working ahhhhhhhhh, ive checked all the pipes are secure and tight and have looked for split pipework but nothing standing out. there is no sound coming from the turbo at all, could this be a actuator problem?
