My new project StreetKa

Featured Replies

Hi fellow Ford owners thought I would start a topic just to say I just bought a StreetKa to go along with my Audi TT and bought a nice clean 2 owner blue 2003 03 plate for £200 off gumtree.

The car has a water leak, no surprise there, no MOT (although has a good MOT record up to 2016) and wouldn't turn over. A changed fuse later and it now starts and I have bought a new radiator and water pump as the previous and second owner said a garage had quoted him £180-190 for supplying and fitting both of those. To be fitted soon and I am hoping it is not the thermostat.

I have bought a new exhaust to fit and removed the radio cd and speakers for some upgraded ones.

Cleaning the car up this weekend - removing rust off the suspension as best I can, fitted new discs and I have recond/re-painted the wheels and will be cutting, polishing and waxing the body. This along with a full service is the first thing I do when buying a new old car, helps me to work on the car when it looks at it's best.

The fabric roof was challenging as I don't think it had ever been cleaned and i'm not sure the oil had been changed in the last 3-4 years either it was black and like water, nearly as black as the air filter. hopefully it will reward me with some good running once I have the MOT. the car has only done 49K miles and so has suffered from short journey itis

Cheers

Andrew

PS this is my first Ford after my Racing Puma a few years ago and a lot quieter.

Pregnant skateboard:-

Check the rear suspension chassis legs they rust like mad and the car is a goner sooner or later - i'm not even sure welding would fix it properly.

Good luck its a nightmare of a car!

Just wait until the alarm starts going off randomly , the floorpans start filling with water , the lambda sensor fails and of course the crap cheap fuel pump strands you in the middle of nowhere and thats just a few i had on a 2004 plate nightmare thats taken ages to find and fix all faults on my project!
