Engine mount bolt snapped

Featured Replies

Hi folks, first time poster, apologies if this is the wrong section!

I bought a 2013 ST-2 a couple of months ago, 30k on the clock. On Thursday an engine mount bolt snapped! The one under the coolant bottle on the drivers side, holding the casting to the steel bracket on the body.

Firstly, has anyone else had this? Secondly, any idea what torque this should be?

is it one of the 3 studs with nuts, or the 2 bolts to body,

It's an M12 bolt, it goes between the bracket mounted to the body with multiple bolts and the cast bracket that attaches to the engine with studs/nuts.

I'll try to get a photo tomorrow.

See attached. Original bolt, and the location on car. Note, the photo shows the replacement  (I may get hold of the correct part, not decided yet).

Anyone got a Haynes can tell me what the torque should be? Don't really want to buy one just for one torque value and really hoping I don't need one for anything else!

ford dont specify a torque setting for that bolt from what i can see, bit strange but not unusual. i would torque to 50nm.  the nuts are 80nm, and the 3 other bolts are 48nm

Awesome, cheers mate. I was a bit concerned it might be especially low and there was something crushable (plastic bush) between the metal parts. If they don't specify then it can't be unusual. Did it to 70ish the other day before I thought. Will leave it at that.

Still surprised it broke...
