Brakes no longer sharp

having done every 2 years means the bleed screws are opened/closed therefore reducing the likley hood of siezing up and snapping when replacing components. its suprising how hygroscopic brake fluid becomes over time

I'm absolutely with this comment from Ian.

Its most certainly the cars which never get brake fluid replaced that cause the problems further down the line which leads to further repairs and more expense.

If you are trying to undo a bleed nipple and it snaps it's best if it happens before it unscrews any - you haven't achieved anything but you can still drive it as normal until such time of extracting the nipple or replacing the caliper or cylinder. Its when they loosen off then jam up and snap off you have an immediate problem!

Its one of those jobs that will cost less than a fiver to do and most cases you can get away without even removing the wheels! If you have access to a compressor then a vacuum bleeder is a god send! No faffing about pressing the pedal, closing the nipple...

I've always changed my brake fluid annually.

Hey guys.

Thanks for the comments, I will certainly be extra careful when bleeding the brakes.

Something not right with mine, theres pressure but when I press the pedal the car just wants to run on, its not stopping it.

I have just ordered new discs and pads for the front but my bro looked at them and said the discs look almost new and theres loads of meat on the pads :(

Too late now, got new stuff coming, decided to go first class and replace the rear drums and shoes too then bleed and if that don't fix issues it has to be a server or something, I figure invest in it now for trouble free braking later on, brakes are kinda important lol.

I did notice yesterday after a 220 mile round trip, there was a lot of brake dust on the nearside wheel and hardly any on the right, I wonder if I have a sticking caliper or something which might explain things.

Sooner its all to bits and cleaned up the better, I'll take some pics as I go :)
