Air con smells

Featured Replies

Hello

I am sure I'm not the first to ask but my air con has started to smell a lot just recently how good are the air con purifier bombs

I used the halfords one it did the trick, I used one before every summer

Get an air con anti bacterial clean did the trick on my Fiesta and the smell never came back and it's only £20

Thanks guys looks like it's a trip to Halfords then?

Just book it online, I know Ford also do it for the same price iirc

You get them in the range too and are cheaper.

air bombs work great use `em twice a year, when did you last change your pollen filter though ?

halfords over-priced i go stocked up from wilko last month they had `em half price, they will be on offer again soon so keep checking :w00t:

I think the local Ford garage do mine without removing the glove box - dash cam is all wired into the glovebox and it was not unplugged when they did it.

Removing the glove box should not be a problem as I have removed it a couple of times to fit aftermarket head unit and reversing camera or I think you can go behind the fuse box. Not to sure which one is easiest?

on my old 2008 focus i used to remove glove box, and the fusebox bracket as it makes the job so much easier, once done a few times you`ll do it again so much quicker next time

Sounds like a weekend job as need to do two cars pollen filter then air con bomb

Did you get a genuine ford filter or ebay and how about the air con bomb Halfords or ebay??

ive never removed glovebox to do them . i can change a filter in around 1 min. but i have had lots of practice over the years. lol

How do you do that if I may ask?

trade secret, chuck the new one in the bin and pretend you have done it . lol
only kidding. battery 3/8 impact gun to rattle off the bracket nuts off. bracket removed off fuse box, push fusebox to give access to housing screws/bolts and remove with battery screwdriver. filter out. reverse back in.
obviously i could have been doing 5 a day when mk2 was popular at garage so you had to be quick using power tools.
but wont take you long with hand tools either.

Thanks I take it you work in a ford garage then?

i did. the mk3 focus filter replacent location is much improved compared to the mk2/2.5.

mk3 is easy to do around 10mins on mine if i can get the cover to click straight back on lol, mk3.5 is a nightmare they got a nice bunch of power cables running across where the pollen filter comes out.
