Finally replaced my back box + rear end!

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I disappeared for a couple weeks but I'm back. Myself and the old man have spent today replacing the rear end on my pride and joy. Fitting an ST180 back box and rear diffuser onto a mk7 Fiesta was fairly straight forward, a couple of minor adjustments were made but we got it done and I'm super happy with the results!

Bonus picture of dad's hurse Jensen since it was lurking all day.

The rear spats, diffuser and deflector, cans on paint and lacquer and the ST180 back box all came to around £300-£350. It is quite fiddly putting it on but as you can see it's come out nicely.

Minor adjustments had to be done since the ST180 is mk7.5 and mine is a mk7 so some of the holes were ever so slightly out of place but nothing a drill and some stretching can't fix. The biggest issue if you plan on putting the back box on too is the pipe is noticeably larger than the standard on the mk7 so sawing some slots in the end, putting on a makeshift metal sleeve and using plenty of exhaust filler did the job.

What made you buy everything new? You can pick up the rear diffuser second hand of a red ST for around £60.

Either way, makes the rear look smart!

I prefer new everything. Although the back box I picked up for £50 which was an absolute steal, a bit of chrome cleaner and it's looking brand new.

very tempted to do the rear bumper, i got a second hand st exhaust o my little engine look well smart and sounds wicked.

It is definitely a huge improvement. Whoever the previous owner was that put the after market back box on did an abortion of a job on it. It melted a path through the valance, it was only held on by the mount at the back so it was bouncing everywhere and even that mount had a terrible spot weld that you could actually move around with your hand. It was dragging the rest of the exhaust down. You can see on the picture with the Jensen it has a mound of melted plastic stuck to it.

If you have the money and the time to do it yourself I would recommend it. It should go straight on yours too since you have the facelift, however some enthusiasm with a screwdriver, drill and a blade never hurt anyone.

Thanks man, gonna do it, will prob go down the used route tho...👍

thanks for all the info..👍

Looks good buddy! I've been thinking of getting a custom back box made for my Red Edition now I have an ST style diffuser on, just to finish the look, but now I've seen this it could be a lot cheaper to just get an ST180 back box thinking about it 🙄

Cheers mate! If you go with the ST180 one then see if you can scrounge a 2nd hand one for cheap off ebay then polish it up a bit.
