Well I've learnt something. How's it done exactly?

Hello Stevesixty7

are you talking about getting the manual or the clutch replacement??

Replacing the clutch mate. Only just seen the video you put on.

Hello Stevesixty7

I never done the clutch replacement before. this will my fist time.

All the best mate, hope it goes well. After watching the video, you're a braver man than me.

thanks mate, i will update with lots of photos as i go along. Working on cars is a hobby for me and not to mention experience i will get once it is completed. What i would like to be better at is diagnosing faults.

I have already taken off the manifold on the ford after i bought the car i read that the fords had a common fault with the swirl flaps breaking off and going into the engine.

I look forward.to your updates Wayne. The car I have now is my first Ford for a long time. I have had mk1 and mk2 Escorts, mk5 2 litre Cortina Ghia, and my last before this was a mk4 Escort, so it's been a while. All of them with the exception of the mk4 Escort has presented a problem, but that's what cars do. Renault and Fiat in between and they too had problems. I do like Ford though, and I started with them, I'll continue to support the brand. My old Focus is immaculate inside and doesn't look too bad outside either.

Ok mate. You have some nice cars there. I have had a few cars as well in the past. I did have a Nissan that I was very found off but in the last days too many issues to sort out.

I must say one of the best car I had was a 1996 Renault Laguna. No problems with it at all and scrapped it for now reason to get a 1999 BMW 318. The worst decision ever.

I Love the shape of the Ford Focus. It replaced the Nissan Primera P12.

That Passat I have is a piece of work as well. They have a common fault with the oil pump drive key. Mine went had I think 100000 miles . You have to remove the balance shaft to replace it .

I remembered when I called the VW specialist when the pump drive key failed. I was told I needed a new engine.

So i did the work to bring her back to life and she now as 115000 miles and going strong.

Hello everyone

Just an update with lady Ford. I heard some squeaking when I was reversing to park the car so i decided to jack her and check all the wheels and was surprised to find the front O/S front wheel completely locked up. I was struggling to rotate it. the N/S front side was a bit better but i don't think it will be long before that side start to locking up as well am I right in thinking this could be the cause of my issues with the juddering??

Sounds like the brakes are binding?  It may not be the only cause of the judder but won't be helping, needs sorting either way though!

Thanks TomsFocus

For your reply. The issue has now been solved. It was the locked up O/S front caliper was the issue. The juddering was happening between the 3rd and 5th gears.  I got a refurb part off the bay and replaced it. I was hoping that this would be the issue why the car was able to move off in 3rd gear. I am not that lucky.

So when it is a bit warmer I will have a clutch to replace.

I would like to say thanks to everyone for all the replays and help with me sorting out this issue.
