advise on engine

Featured Replies

Hi

Few questions in regard to 2015 ford focus

I bought a 2015 ford focus just over a month ago, had a fuel leak  two days after purchased took to ford they found out car was put back together wrong, missing engine bolts, and fuel was leaking as hoses weren't put back in place properly, and told engine looks fairly new. finally dealership paid out for the repairs, all fine for month, now the car has leaking fuel injector and loud banging noise from engine, place where purchased coming to take car back to repair.

my question is how can i tell if the engine is brand new or a used engine? are there any dates on the engine?.

i was finally told yesterday from Volkswagen dealership where i got it from, it was traded in and that they replaced the engine with a new one, as the mechanic when he did a service blew up the original engine as started it with no oil, but i want to know if the engine is brand new like they claim or some used one? any advise?

also what is missing from this part?, i noticed it doesn't look right

Thanks

sure someone more knowledgeable will be along soon, but I think the part you have circled is some sort of leak off, or refill for something like aircon?

i did search the manual but no luck, i did search online also looks like some sort of black cover or something like that goes there, but i dont know what it is,  i pretty sure on my 2011 focus it has some rubber cover or something.

and if this engine was replaced would that likely cause the fuel injector to start leaking and cause a loud banging noise? as they have offered to repair and bring me another or can have the full refund or swap with any other car they have at that value. but i dont know if the engine is some scrap one to make it last few thousand miles before its death. or the new one they claim.

what you circled is the air con connector. should be just a plastic cover like a big tyre valve cover . nothing to worry about for now, but would get one at somepoint to stop dirt getting in.

take a photo of the engine with the plastic cover off.

if its a new engine then the f1fq-6007-bb should be the latest engine revision number i guess. i can check tommorow on that number. wont be a definative answer even then.
