Bluetooth Audio 'Blips' - Focus 61 Plate Titanium

Featured Replies

Hi

Apologies if this is resolved elsewhere but I've been trying to research an issue that has come up with my 2011 (61 plate) Ford Focus Titanium to do with the Bluetooth connection from an iPhone.

I purchased the vehicle at the end of November 2017 and everything was fine and Bluetooth audio was perfect,  until a couple of days before Christmas when I noticed that the audio with a Bluetooth connection appeared to have slight blips every now and then.  The blips last around a split second, audio continues but it is noticeable (especially when I'm listening to podcasts and music).

There doesn't seem to be any pattern to when the 'blips' occur and they happen when the vehicle is in motion and when parked up stationary.  Sometime when trying to connect to the phone a message appears saying 'Communication Error' - however the audio still plays through the car's audio system and doesn't actually appear to loose connection.

I've read somewhere about an update to the audio system (from circa 2012) using a USB stick which I have completed, however the issue still is present.

The only change that I know of is that I upgraded my iPhone's iOS software the same week that I noticed these 'blips' for the first time (the week before Christmas).  Subsequent updates from Apple haven't resolved it.

DAB and FM/AM radio audio quality is unaffected by this - it is just audio via Bluetooth.

The audio system I have installed is the Ford SONY audio system.

Has anyone else experienced this, or have any idea how to resolve this?

Thanks in advance

Steve

Have you tried removing/forgetting the device then starting fresh?

I have tried that a number of times.  The issue is also present when my partner uses her iPhone bluetooth connection for audio.

The odd thing is, today, the audio was fine on a journey.  On the way back the issue returned! Very odd!
