Featured Replies

Hello would anyone be able to help me with my car it’s a 1.8tdci and the turbo is playing up. Sometimes it boosts good and sometimes it doesn’t and the red cog light comes on and once it goes off again it boosts nice and then light comes back on its like it don’t boost at all would this be the turbo or something else .

You should get the codes read before anything else, I'd say.

Sounds like the variable-geometry vanes could be sticking.

Is the anyway of checking this?

DTC/codes would be a good start, depening on which codes have been triggered it can give a solid indication of sticking vanes e.g. if you have under and over boost DTC's then there's a decent chance it's just the VNT sticking.
