Passenger Footwell Leak. Air Con Drain Pipe?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Noticed water in the passenger footwell of my 2010 Focus ST the other day. Stripped the carpet back and the dampness is only at the bottom left part of the carpet by the door. There's a black pipe coming from the centre console into the footwell and out the bottom of the car. Can anyone tell me what this is as I suspect it to be the AC drain off and am assuming thks is leaking. Picture attached.

Thanks.

Had another look and attempted to dry the carpets out and have discovered the water is in fact coming in from somewhere up in the top left of the footwell . Any ideas?

I know with other makes of cars that the first place to check would be the scuttle panel and also underneath to make sure none of the drain holes are blocked up which is causing water to back up and then enter the car also check door seals etc, but my money would be on underneath the scuttle panel is probably full of water with blocked drain holes.

Thanks for the reply. I've had a look under the scuttle panel and there's no build up of water, poured water in myself and it all drains away pretty quickly and doesn't get in the car that way. Door seals also all look fine.

I can't see any black pipe in your photo but if you're referring to the flattened curved item it's the duct from the heater to the rear footwell.

That's what I was on about. Cheers.
