Mk3 Bonnet/headlight housing adjustment possible?

Featured Replies

Hi, does anyone know if they can be adjusted? Its a 63 plate focus and the bonnet edge rubs against the glass a touch on the nearside headlight when closing and when its fully shut there is zero gap at all between em, they are touching. The offside is however spot on, in fact the gap looks slightly bigger than maybe it could be? Its probs been in a bump before i imagine but theres nothing recorded hpi clear etc so probs damaged unrecorded i guess. Only had the car a week and everything else and all the other panels looks perfect so if this can be sorted easily id be over the moon!

Hi mate this is an easy fix.

If I remember correctly pop out the light then you will find where the light fixes to the wing there's a locating lug remove it from the light assembly file or grind it off then you will have all the adjustment you need.

Yours sincerely Steve

Thanks for the reply and info Steve. Is the lug on the headlight assembly plastic and will it give me side to side movement once ive filed it off? Im just guessing that i need side movement thats all, ive never done much with headlights in the past.

Hi mate you're correct. You need to remove the headlight assembly the lug fits in a hole at the top of the wing. When it's removed it gives you all the adjustment you need.

Hope that this helps you out
