Heater Core (Matrix) 2L Tdci

Featured Replies

Hi guys, new git here.

After some info.

Looks as though this forum has the tech info that I am after.

Am from oz.

Forums in US deal with petrol engines, ours tend to be centred around large fords!

Have a July 2007 S. African built Mk 2 2.0L TDCI manual non-dpf.

VIN: AFADXXMJDD7501600

Expansion tank emptied, coolant all over drive.

Has a heater core leak.

Pulled up carpets, pulled out seats yada yada yada.

Have access now to the core.

IF the replacement core is the same, how does one slide it in with the steel dash support in the way?

The thing is, Haynes is useless in regards to pulling/replacing the core.

There is a description here about a guy using hose clamps to replace an old core with a newy.

I am concerned about this repair. I see leaks in the future.

Is there any way one can get a new unit in without pulling the whole dash apart?

Or is the posted method the accepted method?

Have no access to factory manuals nor have I, as of yet, gotten a replacement matrix.

Just doing homework.

Any links to the ford way of doing the job?

Web pages or PDF's?

Informed knowledge very much appreciated.

Please excuse if this has been posted before - didn't come up in a search.

Mick85, because we have other cars to use and the temp here has been 35-40C, the repairs have been going slowly.

Have gotten matrix - same as in car.

Have been following Haynes but have found that my setup may be different to the book.

Gotten to this stage:

heater

Haynes image of the heater matrix cpt 3.11 fig 9.27b shows no upper plastic lip (near matrix pipe).
Installation simple with no lip!!!!!!
Looks as though the lip will go.
What gives?!!???
Thanks all.
