Focus Zetec S Mk2.5 Coilovers Or Lowering Springs? How Easy To Fit?

Hi guys got a focus zetec s 2010 on 18inch st alloys, just wondering whether coilovers or springs? and if any additional mods would be required?... Price is a factor too, mostly want want for appearance but dont want to spoil the handling!

Hi mate,

I'll be fitting the ford approved Eibach lowering springs

Will lower the current height by 20mm front 30mm rear

When fitting lowering springs you will require :

Rear camber adjusment bolts from Eibach

Eibach Pro lowering springs (different springs for petrol/diesel)

Ford steering limiter kit.

When fitting coil overs you will require:

Rear camber adjusment bolts from eibach

Ford steering limiter kit.

Front camber tower adjustment kit from eibach.

I personally think the eibach kit will be low enough considering the existing ride height with 18" fitted

Thanks for the info, have you fitted the kit yet, if so how has the handling changed? Also what's the overall cost of all these items for lowering springs? and are they easy to fit overall? If not how much for fitting generally, as surely tracking etc would all have to be done after? Sorry for all the Qs just intrigued lol

The Eibach lowering springs cost 160 pounds from ford

Or

140 pounds for the same kit through other suppliers.

Camber adjustment bolts cost less than 20 pounds and save your rear tyres from uneven wear

Ford steering limiter kit is 15 pounds only available from ford.

I've not lowerd it yet,

Booking it in with ford next month for a service and getting them to lower it then too.

Laser alignment depends on the garage costs

Perhaps 10 pounds per wheel/corner

Fitting of springs could cost anything from 100-180 pounds depending on the garage.

From viewing comparison videos on youtube: handling seems to be improved aswell as body roll/over steer

Ford recomend the kit too so its gotta make a noticable difference.

After lowering

I'm looking at upgrading the rear anti-roll bar to a bigger diameter one from "whiteline"

I've spoke to an ST driver who has one fitted and says the steering is more predictable and precise.

For 150pounds its well worth the try plus its supplied with polyurataine bushes.

I'll update on the 10th May with images and review.

No such thing as a silly question mate,

I didn't know till I asked neither but ford say;

When lowering the car by 20mm or more, it is advised to fit the steering limiter kit which consists of a 5mm rubber ring that fits in to the CV joint on either side front wheels to limit the full turning lock

Preventing the widest point of the wheel rubbing off the lowerd body.

Aswell as kicking out the bottom turn angle of the wheel helping you turn tighter.

For 15.00GBP I thought shir why not lol

Reviving an old thread - my apologies.

How did this turn out in the end? Ive been online with PumaSpeed and fitted costs 285 all in and Ford want £407 - neither mentioned the need for fresh camber bolts - does lowering the vehicle cause the issue of irregular camber? or is this something I need to enquire about when I have them fitted?

Just seen this post.. I've got a mk2.5 Titanium with 16" wheels. Fitted the ebach lowering springs myself and I've not put the steering limiter on or camber bolts.. not sure if it due to me runnin the smaller wheels so no they don't rub. I did have my tracking re checked tho.. 

Fitting was simple long as you take ur time and don't rush.
