    Engine malfunction service now

Thanks for the how to, Too late with the code... I've deleted the code and fault has not come back on the scan. The mechanic I use could not find any fault codes anyway with his diagnostic tool. Was this code (U0120) something to do with the battery not being reset in the first place? and the reason I got the engine malfunction service now ?
  3. Yes still around and (crossed fingers) the car is still running fine. I don't need to use it that often but when I do it still compares well, both in performance and fuel consumption, to many other much newer cars I drive. I did replace the cambelt twice and the oil pump belt once (amongst many other things!). The reason I replaced the cambelt twice was because I had the belt exposed a second time for other reasons and noticed it had already started to deteriorate after about a year. The one I currently have fitted is a BGAutomotive (BGA) branded belt i.e. not the OEM Ford/Dayco one that most fit. I've just purchased some Castrol engine oil and a Ford oil filter to do a service. That will be the first service since I got the engine fully sorted. Until now the car has been running on Petronas engine oil to the correct spec. If I notice anything untoward during the service I'll update my post.

    Engine malfunction service now

you can do it yourself get into the car and make sure doors are closed turn ignition on flick full beam 5 times then tap on the break 3 times wait up to 30 secs while watching the battery light, when it blinks at you the battery has been reset successfully give it a go and see if it makes any difference this also fixes the start stop function in your car if fitted

    Fuses.

No, you would still have to configure the relevant module to turn the feature on, providing the relevant hardware is fitted

    Engine malfunction service now

I personally have not reset anything, I would not know how to, RAC changed the battery, the garage fitted a new alternator, not sure if either did, I did not know it needed to be reset and did not ask - I am assuming the garage would have, I can only ask.

    Engine malfunction service now

Thanks for the help and info so far, I bought a lead yesterday and it arrived this morning, downloaded FORScan and plugged it in this morning. One code has podded up (see in the pictures) Code is - U0120 - Lost communication with starter / Generator control module. Bit more info if this hopefully solves the issue. 7th Feb - Hit a massive pothole - Needed new tyre. 14th Feb - Booked into garage to check any damage caused by pothole - Left garage after no issues found - Few hours later "engine malfunction service now light appears" the warning light appears a couple of times - Loss of power - limit to 3k revs - almost limp mode. Happens a few times leading up to 1st April, coil pack light appears once or twice for a few seconds along with the engine light, again nothing staying on for no longer than a few seconds. Speak with garage and book it in to be looked at. 1st April - Battery dead and alternator showing shorted Diode. New battery and new alternator fitted About a week after new alternator and battery the "Engine malfunction service now light appears" - A week after that the battery light briefly comes on for about 60 seconds then goes off. 12th April - Car back in garage to check the Alternator and battery again - everything is ok. They plug their computer in no codes found. 3rd May - Battery light on again, but only for a second or two. Engine malfunction service light has appeared 3/4 times since the 12th April. I have it booked in again on Saturday, will tell them the new fault code, Is this "Engine malfunction service now" light appearing because the above fault code has not been deleted/reset ? Shall I delete this code ? Thnaksfor any help 🙂

    Fire Extinguisher

Filled up with fuel this morning at Sainsburys. A young guy was having an induction at my pump being shown the fire extinguisher. I said to them best to sod that and run. Was amusing at the time...
  19. That's Windows for you . Since sfc obviously didn't cure your problem the only other thing I can suggest is to allow MSE or Windows Defender (can't remember if you said which version of Windows you were using) to do a full scan. This can take quite a while, possibly several hours, but you can continue working while it does it's thing in the background. Defender also has an 'offline' mode that can catch things that install themselves during boot-up so once your full scan has completed and you've dealt with anything that's been flagged up it's worth doing the offline scan as well.
  20. Yes, that's the one. It should be accessible from above, though you may need to remove the airbox or some intake piping to get your arm there.

    Ford Focus mk3 1.0 125ks

You are correct. That lead is not capable of switching between the two different can buses. You need the one suggested by @unofix above.
  22. Cambelt is recommended every 8 years on this engine. So it may have been done in 2021 if you've only recently bought the car.
  23. Morning all, This is a great thread, however, spanning 56 pages it is a little tricky to get a full and complete up to date parts list to do this upgrade. Is it possible someone can repost the part numbers required for all of the components needed to do this upgrade to SYNC3 in a 64 Focus MK3. Thanks
  24. Personally I didn't have leaks on my Focus but fixed 2 fiestas. One air wents and those oval shape holes. And second one joints on the roof to the boot, it wasn't any visible damaged but after sealing joints with tiger seal no more leaks. On that video, could it be coming through the top mount of shock absorber?
