Fuses.

Featured Replies

Evening all, just changed a couple of the mini fuses on the car and it got me thinking,if I were to put a fuse in one of the empty slots would it activate said item. I've no clue about cars so ridicule me if you wish I have broad shoulders.

Probably not.  The hardware is unlikely to be fitted, even if the wiring is.  Was there a particular feature you wanted to try?

No, is the quick answer.

I saw the empty slot that would activate day running lights, but being mine is a standard focus I doubt it would have worked as you pointed out.

The UK 2008 Focus was not built with DRL

There is a way to get daytime running lights working on mk2.5 Focus, at least for cars with auto headlamps. Needs a couple of fuses fitting, a relay and a link adding to the wiring plugs for the GEM.

The auto headlamps then stay on (switch in Auto position) and in reality then just turn on the tail lamps when it decides it’s dark enough.

No, you would still have to configure the relevant module to turn the feature on, providing the relevant hardware is fitted

Evening all, can I replace a 10amp fuse with a 15amp fuse without causing a major problem?

You could if you’re happy with whatever issue was causing the 10amp to blow decides to burn out your wiring instead of blowing the 15A fuse!

an irritating feature that wastes energy and achieves nothing - drivers don't pay attention and mostly never look, motorbikes now have this pathetic feature - been riding 50 years first 35 years with out it - there was zero change in people's behaviour

but recently we have a much bigger decline, (totally unrelated to lighting that is becoming offensive with direction patterns, and side lights stupidly turning off).  The effects of social media and tracking devices has ruined people's brains - add in covid and 6 out of 10 at the wheel have zero comprehension they are in a big wide, heavy death machine - they're mostly asleep, four foot on the wrong-side of the road paying zero attention to where the vehicle is wandering

The source of where you purchased a fuse should have little consequence. What makes you post such a weird comment?

Oh, good morning, good afternoon, good evening (just delete the irrelevant ones 🤣)

Nothing weird about it obviously the one's from Ebay are of inferior quality so I'll go to a proper motor factors and get some decent quality one's.

You'll find they're all made in the same Chinese factory  🤣

Oddly enough those of lesser quality always blow at a higher current than what they are rated at. So a poor quality 10A fuse will usually blow closer to 15A

As Stephen has correctly said, you will be very hard pushed to find any fuses not made in China. If you want to try and find fuses of a better quality then use 'Littelfuse' (yes, that is the correct spelling).
