Just a quick question as per the title really, are the shocks / springs on a Mk3 Focus the same, like a 1.6 Diesel and a petrol model or are the diesels got different shocks / springs as maybe the diesel engine is heavier?

Not sure mate, have you tried checking euro car parts to give you a starting point.

Which front springs are fitted depends on the engine type. Every type of engine/gearbox combination basically has a different weight which also results in different front springs. Rear springs are the same for every type of engine/gearbox combination. There are only differences between the different body types.

Next to this all of the springs are also different between the standard suspension and the slightly lower sport suspension.

This results in the fact that there are over 50 different springs available for the Focus MK3/MK3.5.

Long story short the original springs of a 1.6 TDCI Diesel version are definetely different from the original springs of a 1.6 petrol version. The springs will physically fit but have different spring characteristics and can result in a slightly different ride height.
