Windscreen washer jets leak onto hood - MK2.5

Featured Replies

Hello Guys!
I'm new here, and posting my question as I have not found any solution yet... I have a 2009 Ford Focus MK2.5, and have the following issue: when I use the windscreen washer, there is a quite big leak from the washer jets on the bonnet - besides it is quite ugly, I don't think it is good for the paint either. I tried to use the washer only at higher speeds, but same happens. I also tried to point the jets a bit higher, but nothing changed.

Do you have any idea what to do in such case?
Thanks in advance!

Do they spray well?

Check under the bonnet and ensure the pipes are connected firmly with no splits. Are there any splits in the upper part of the washer jets? You can try using a pin to ensure the nozzle is clear of any foreign debris.

If they don't spray well, there may be a blockage in the pipes or at the pump filter (inside the washer bottle). The inner gauze/filter can gum up with screen wash residue/algae.

Looks like you may have a split in the nozzle, easy to replace will cost about £20.00 for a new nozzle  5 min job. They are just as cheap to buy fron your local ford dealer ,also you will get the correct part from them.

They spray well.
All right, I will look for some new nozzle. It's a bit more complicated, as they are heated ones, but I assume it is not so hard to change them either.

Thank a lot!

This is a known problem on many Ford models.

This problem can easily be solved by installing check valves between the hoses (close to the washer jets).
