Hi all, has anyone heard of this website and the product displayed??

http://xtrons.co.uk/td698g-6-95-hd-digital-touch-screen-car-gps-double-din-dvd-player-with-screen-mirroring-function.html

im looking for a budget upgrade touch screen with sat nav to tidy up the dash abit.

After having a bad experience with a unbranded head unit two years ago I’d really like to know what experiences people have had with this site/head unit before I buy.

Thanks all!

I was looking at the same supplier, but looking at the Focus-specific model. YouTube reviews seem to be quite good but forums (XDA) say the bluetooth calling quality can be a bit rubbish, which is a reason why I want to get one so looking for as much feedback as possible!

THIS is the one I'm looking at

That looks nice mate, I’m not too fussed about getting one made for the focus as I’ve currently got a aftermarket jvc in at the moment which looks nice, I’ve just got too many wires running everywhere! & im sick of that little circle on my windscreen every time I get the sat nav out 😡

I just wanted it to fit the hole in the dash without using additional fascia adaptors. I hear you regarding the sat nav marks on the windscreen!

Hi

The only thing that has put me off upgrading mine is according to most of the reviews on my car you have to swap the stereos back to change the clock on the dash!

I would love this confirming as it sounds a bit daft!

As in the one on the dials? Didn't even think of that...I've also read that the rear parking sensors won't work, but others say they're fine as they use their own speaker(s). Anyone able to confirm?

yeah, apparently the controls on the steering wheel work, but the clock looks a bit of an oversight, mines fast so I have to set it about 4 times a year, then the clocks change twice!

I have the additional facia in mine, looks like it’s meant to be 😂

Just scanning through the reviews. Seems a fair few have had issues but a lot could be due to buying from third-party (eBay) and not via their own site.

I took the plunge and purchased one! Found on amazon by xtrons as the seller. Got me a better deal. It was £135 on their website then an additional £30 for the gps maps card and would have to pay extra for a reverse cam (not that I really need one!).  On amazon it was £115 with the gps card and reverse camera! Plus I feel a lot more confident buying through amazon rather than their site! I will update if it actually works as it should! Everything looks good quality though, although it comes with NO installation instructions. Looks easy enough though, all wires are labled.

This is wrong (I have a similar custom head unit, android based).

You can still change the dash clock in the instrument cluster by using the knobs/buttons on the left hand stalk.

Only (minor) issue is that the time on the dash and on your headunit won't sync (and may be out by a few minutes compared to each other as time gradually passes).

Okay guys, quick update!

stereo is in and working! Very happy with the quality.

Just two things I’m not so happy with, it never came with a surround! So I can see the cage around the side. Where’s the best place to buy on of these?

and it doesn’t seem to save anything I change, like it won’t save a radio station or save any settings I change? I have emailed the seller about this, but could it be a wiring issue? I did fit this myself but I will stress I did NOT cut any wires! All plug and play!

Cheers guys

This is because the Ford radio aperture isn't true double-din. Autoloeads do a replacement panel that uses a standard double-din slot to keep things looking stock

https://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/autoleads-dfp-07-17-ford-focus-2006-double-din-cd-stereo-fascia-panel-adaptor.html

Or you can just get a filler panel for the existing fascia

https://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/autoleads-dfp-07-07-ford-mondeo-03-07-gun-metal-double-din-fascia-adaptor.html

As for the wiring, did you need a wiring harness at all to be able to connect to the Ford wiring? The one I was going to get comes with a custom loom specifically for the Focus so all wiring connects correctly. I'm going to assume the wire needed for memory backup isn't connected.

I know it’s not a true double din, I have a filler panel in there. I mean the really thin plastic that goes around the stereo, the one that’s there simply for looks.

& I already had a wiring adapter for it as I had a jvc in there before. How to I check if the ‘memory wire’ if connected?

Ah, I misunderstood. You can buy those thin bezel trim panels for universal headunits. Probably best check eBay or contact the seller.

As for the wiring, check the two lives (red and yellow). The yellow wire is the constant and needs to be correctly wired to save settings. This is why I was gonna get the custom fit jobby so it came with all the correct wiring/canbus adapter, etc.

is bezel the proper name for them? I've looked but im searching head unit surround haha

and as for the wiring, if i swap the wire round to see if it work, will it damage the head unit if its wrong? or will it just pop a fuse?

It's what I've always called them, but fascia might also help if looking. Or contact Xtrons and see what they say.

The wiring shouldn't really appear to do anything, it should still turn on AFAIK. I don't think it'll do anything bad to the car (I'm sure I've had the same issue in the past with other cars and had to swap wires over with no ill effect)

I swapped those two wires over and it now appears to save stations/settings, seems to be working perfectly! Thanks!

Just need that facia/bezel/plastic thingy to complete the look.

I’ve looked on xtrons website, all they have is full fittings kits. I only need the bezel trim. eBay don’t seem to have the correct size. I’ll continue to shop around, I may have to spend £20 on that fitting kit rather than £5 on a penel :(

Can you link to the amazon one please? I can’t seem to find it..

thanks.
