My hubby recently lost his car key leaving us with only 1 (remote central locking flip fob style).

Is my only option for a spare key to go direct to ford?

    There are a few places that can do this much cheaper than the dealer charges. There is also free software called 'Forscan' that can do this sort of programming with the extended licence (also free) using an elm cable but you will need to understand the procedure before attempting it.

    I try and avoid the dealer as much as possible as they seem to just want to charge the earth for everything no matter how small it is.

    I have a similar problem...my youngest daughter has just bought a Ka 2 which only came with a manual door key (no buttons on it ). I tried our local Timpsons but even they said they will have to order one from Ford and then programme it and it will be around £240 :angry:

    Michael, would you be so kind as to share what types of places do them please?

    Do they also programme the key for the security thing, which the name of has completely gone out of my mind, and the central locking? I'm pretty clueless and my husband is even more clueless!

    Just Google auto locksmith and the town you live in. Then call them for a quote. I paid £110 for a spare three button flip key for my Focus. (From The AA)
