    There are a multitude of garage/mechanic search sites available that will provide virtually instant quotes.

    Essex is not exactly a small place, so even if someone on here did recommend a mechanic they would likely be miles away and end up costing you a load of extra fuel compared to a more local garage/mechanic.  I've used www.whocanfixmycar.com on several occasions without any problems, they also have a feedback feature so you can do a few basic checks on the garage you're thinking of using.
